Announcement from Revd Malcolm Ingham 26th April 2020

Malcolm InghamLast year, when the world was normal(ish), Liz and I began wondering and sensing that God was calling us to pastures new. By the start of this year we were exploring a vacancy in the Knightley benefice, a group of parishes near Daventry in Northamptonshire. Again, before the lockdown tookplace, I was invited to an interview and, well, the very kind announcement from the Archdeacon of Northampton and the Diocese of Peterborough fills in the gaps;

"I am delighted to announce that following interview and with the agreement of Bishop Donald and the parish representatives the Reverend Malcolm Ingham currently Rector of Alwalton St Andrew and Chesterton St Michael, has accepted the invitation to become the Vicar of Badby w Newnham & Charwelton w Fawsley & Preston Capes - The Knightley Benefice.

A date for Malcolm’s Institution and Induction will be announced in due course...These are difficult days. The Coronavirus has caused a lock-down across the country and it is impossible for Malcolm to be sure when he will be moving to the Knightley Benefice. Please pray for Malcolm as he completes his ministry in his current parishes and as he prepares to move to Badby with his wife Liz."

Although no-one wants to create uncertainty in the middle of a pandemic lockdown, the reality is that the appointment had been made back at the beginning of March and none of us wanted news to slip out by accident and for rumours to start so both Peterborough and Ely diocese felt it wise to make the announcement now.

This means that at some point in the future (but no one is quite sure when) we will be moving over to the Knightley benefice, however, like much of life at the moment it is all very much on hold and I will be continuing to minister at St. Andrew's and St. Michael's for sometime to come although, of course, folks from the Knightley benefice are very welcome to join our online fellowship and services - an invitation which comes not only from myself, but also from members of our fellowships..

I have loved being the Rector of St. Andrew's and St. Michael's and so it is with a mixture of both sadness and excitement that we look to the future knowing that God will be with us in our new home and that he will also with you as you continue to grow and thrive as the people of God in Alwalton, Chesterton, Orton Wistow, Orton Northgate, Orton Southgate and the surrounding area.

In short, we will Keep Calm and Carry On trusting in God's authority, sovereignty and timing.

Much love and God bless,

Recently we were thinking about being disciplined in our prayer lives and in reading our bibles. Click here to download the daily prayers by John Stott, John Calvin and Tim Keller that were talked about.

We recently enjoyed a great evening of African Praise and Worship with the Prince of Peace Choir from Kigali, Rwanda at St. Andrew's.
